General informations on the School and Workshop.
The School/Workshop is organized by G. Casnati, C. Fontanari, R.
Notari, M.L. Spreafico. For contacting the organizers please send an

The School/Workshop is supported by ITC-CIRM and by SISSA,
Dipartimento di Matematica-Università di Torino, Dipartimento
di Matematica-Politecnico di Torino as part of the joint Project
"Geometry on Algebraic Varieties" cofinanced by Italian MIUR.
The School and the Workshop will take place at
Notice that the place is Trento, not Torino as indicated in the first announcement.
Aim of the School.
The School is mainly aimed at Phd students and young researchers
in Algebraic Geometry, introducing the participants to research,
beginning from a basic level with a view towards the applications and
to the most recent results.
A tentative program is as follows.
Low Codimensional Subvarieties (Ph. Ellia). Secant varieties
and projections, normal bundle and double points formula,
Severi-Lefschetz-Grothendieck theorem, Severi's theorem for surfaces
in P5. Barth-Larsen theorem. Hartshorne conjecture.
Zak's theorem on linear normality and vanishing results.
Classification in codimension two: Ellingsrud-Peskine theorem for
surfaces of non general type in P4; Serre
correspondance and Ran's theorem; smooth divisors of projective
hypersurfaces.
Vector Bundles (R.M. Mirò-Roig). Stability of vector
bundles and its properties. Moduli functor. Fine and coarse moduli
spaces. Monads and stability. Moduli spaces of vector bundles on
surfaces. Moduli spaces of vector bundles on higher dimensional
varieties.
Aim of Workshop.
The Workshop is intended to discuss the state of the art. At
today the following speakers have confirmed their participation: U.
Bruzzo, F. Catanese, L. Chiantini, O. Garcia-Prada, J.O. Kleppe, G.
Ottaviani, G. Trautmann, P. Valabrega. People interested in
delivering a short communication are kindly requested to submit the
title and an abstract within August 26th to
Schedule.
The School will start on Monday, 11th at 12.00 and it
will end on Thursday, 14th at 17.00. Workshop will start
on Friday 15th at 09.00 and it will end on Saturday
16th at 14.00. On Friday evening a social dinner open to
the participants of the School/Workshop will be organized.
